Game On! - The sights and sounds of a Saturday in Iowa City

There’s nothing quite like game day. Thousands of Hawkeye faithful gather to see friends, eat brats, and cheer on their team. Fans start securing favorite tailgating spots at the crack of dawn and for hours before kickoff the aromas of pork burgers and extremely large turkey legs waft from grills in parking lots and lawns around Kinnick Stadium.

There are traditions inside the stadium as well: the roar of the crowd as cheerleaders race bedsheet-sized I-O-W-A flags across

the field, followed by the Hawkeye team, and the blare of classic rock songs intermingling with the names of players who land a catch or take down an opponent.

Whether the Hawks are having a good year or one that’s less than stellar, Hawkeye fans are renowned for their dedication to the team and for making it a day at Kinnick stadium.
