Show of Force - Hawkeyes hungry for national title

The top-ranked Iowa wrestlers are on a roll: they recently picked up their third straight—and 34th total—Big Ten Conference title and now are gunning for their third straight national title.

The squad dominated its opponents during the regular season, ending it on a school-record 61-match winning streak and qualifying its entire 10-man lineup for the 2010 NCAA wrestling championships March 18–20 in Omaha. Iowa also crowned two individual Big Ten champions, seniors Jay Borschel of Marion, Iowa, and Dan Erekson of Eagle, Idaho, while redshirt freshman Matt McDonough of Marion, Iowa, picked up Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors.

Head coach Tom Brands also made the record books this year when he was named Big Ten Coach of the Year for the third straight year, becoming the first coach in conference history to earn the honor in three consecutive seasons.
