The University has transformed the way it manages recyclable materials and will phase in a new single-stream recycling program across campus. Yafang Cheng, a UI postdoctoral researcher, and colleagues at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry in Mainz, Germany, have found that soil nitrite can be released into the air in the form of nitrous acid and indirectly enhance the self-cleansing capacity of the atmosphere. More

The Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust has awarded investigators in the UI College of Public Health a three-year, $750,000 grant to expand a study of health and fitness among youth in Muscatine, Iowa. More
