On Friday, July 29, the sixth day of RAGBRAI XXXIX, thousands of bicyclists navigated the 75-mile route from Grinnell to Coralville.
Riders were greeted by Hawkeye paraphernalia as they entered Coralville. The theme for the local festivities was “Coralville U: Tailgate Tested, Tailgate Approved.”
Local organizers fabricated a replica of Kinnick Stadium that welcomed riders as they entered town.
A 30-yard portion of Eighth Street was painted to resemble a football field and was lined with bleachers and Hawkeye flags.
On RAGBRAI, spectators are sure to see bicycles of all shapes and sizes.
Some members of the Alumni Band had their pep gear in tow and stopped for renditions of the “Iowa Fight Song” and “In Heaven There Is No Beer.”

S.T. Morrison Park in Coralville served as local RAGBRAI headquarters and housed hundreds of participants in several tent cities.
